Week Ending 30th March 2018
Dear Parents, Carers,
We have reached the end of another busy short term and have packed in more inter-house competitions; our students are getting ready for their examinations next term and we’ve had our second Parent Clinic on Teaching and Learning. School resumes on Monday 16th April for students and I hope you all have a wonderful Easter break; let’s hope it’s not a washout with rain!
GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition Presentation Skills
The Year 10 students had their resilience and patience tested this week whilst making tuiles to accompany a panna cotta and raspberry coulis they had made. This was a chance for the students to show off their creative and decorative skills!
Kent Ski Championships Sunday 6 May 2018 Chatham Kent
REMINDER
We would like to enter teams of 3/4 students for the Kent Ski Championships as we have done for many years in the past. We would like to enter teams in the Years 7-9 and 10-13 categories. WE HAVE HAD 6 STUDENTS APPLY SO FAR- 3 IN EACH CATEGORY BUT WOULD LIKE TO ENTER TEAMS OF 4. If your son is a good skier and would like to try his luck on a slalom course against the clock please let Mr Sexton know. We have won many team and individual awards in the past. Boys will need to be committed for an early start (8 am) and the event runs until about 2 pm. We will try to practise for the event by attending the open training session the day before on Sat 5th May and if possible Mr Sexton will try to arrange other training sessions. The day is great fun and quite a challenge! You don’t need your own skis or boots but you will need access to a ski helmet. Parents will need to arrange to get their sons to and from the venue. The cost is £14 per racer. If you would like to enter please let Mr Sexton know by Monday 16 April (csexton@wgsb.org.uk) indicating previous experience on dry slopes and he will get back to you as soon as possible
We are looking for additional Examination Invigilators to join our invigilation team.
The public examination season is in May and June when GCSEs and A levels take place, but there are other dates throughout the academic year for Pre-Public Examinations and other assessments. You will need to be flexible, able to work as part of a team, pay attention to detail and ideally have experience of supervising children/working with young people. Experience is preferred but full training will be provided for the successful candidates.
If you are interested in joining our invigilation team, please contact our Exams Officer Mrs Lomas, on mlomas@wgsb.org.uk.
